The warranty covers defects that arise from manufacturing faults, faulty materials, and or damage caused by normal use, for the intended purpose and/or application.

Duratec Batteries reserved the right to change any of these guidelines and/or terms and conditions without any prior notice. Duratec Batteries will make these documents available upon request.

Flat or Undercharged Battery

A flat or undercharged battery does not automatically constitutes a claim. Should the battery be flat or undercharged, Duratec Batteries, any of its distributors, and/or resellers have both the right and obligation to charge the battery fully (Minimum > 12.75v) and fully test the battery before processing the claim.

Vehicle Struggling or Failing to Start

Some of the other reasons for a vehicle struggling or failing to start are (a) a bad starter motor (b) a bad timing belt (c) a broken or cracked distributor cap (d) a bad ignition coil (e) a clogged fuel filter (f) faulty alternator (g) faulty spark plugs (h) dirty air filter (i) faulty fuel pump (j) empty fuel tank (k) steering wheel lock (l) faulty security system or immobilizer (m) electrical or wiring issues (n) engine problems (o) loose terminals (p) jammed ignition, etc.

Size, Voltage, Amps and/or Technology

Ensure that you are using the correct size, voltage, amps, and/or technology for the vehicle or application.

Original Invoice

All claims must have the original invoice. Duratec Batteries, any of its branches, authorised distributors and/or authorised resellers reserves the right to refuse a claim if there is no proof of purchase (original invoice) presented.

Valid Claim

It must be determent by Duratec Batteries, any of its authorised distributors, and/or authorised resellers whether or not the battery is a valid claim.

Warranty Date

The warranty commences from the original date of purchase. Should the battery be replaced under warranty, it will carry the BALANCE of the warranty term, from the original date of purchase. (You do not receive a new warranty every time you receive a replacement battery and/or product).

Vehicle Charging System

The vehicle’s charging system should be charging between: 13.8v – 14.2v.

Electrical Drainage

Any electrical drainage on the vehicle should not exceed 0.05ah. Any amount higher than this is considered parasitic and can cause damage to and discharge the battery.

Non Duratec Batteries and/or Products

Any product that is NOT manufactured by Duratec Batteries is subject to the terms and conditions of that product’s manufacturer and/or distributors.

Explosions

Keep the battery away from sparks, cigarettes and open flames, these can cause explosions.

Short circuit, Sparks and/or Burning

Avoid contact with metal on and/or across the terminals, this can result in a short circuit, sparking, and/or burning of the terminals.

Vent Plugs

Vent plugs should be opened with a vent plug opener only, DO NOT use a screwdriver.

Clean and Dry

The top of the battery and terminals must be kept clean and dry. NEVER apply any grease or terminal “protection” spray to the terminals. Keep the battery and terminals free from acid, corrosion, dirt, and/or moisture, these can cause loss of power.

Firmly Secured in a Cradle

The battery should always be firmly secured, in a cradle, with the cable clamps firmly secured. If the battery is fitted incorrectly it can cause the battery to vibrate and bounce, leading to the container, casing, terminals, and/or plates being damaged and/or destroyed.

Depth of Discharge

Deep Cycle, EV and/or Golf car batteries should never exceed 50% depth of discharge and should be charged immediately after use.

Low Mileage and/or Short Distances

Should a vehicle not be a daily driver, does low mileage, and/or only short distances the battery needs to be charged by an external trickle/smart charger every 7-14 days. This will help prevent low voltage and extend the lifetime of the battery.

Liability

Under no circumstance will Duratec Batteries, any of its authorised distributors, and/or authorised resellers be held liable and/or take any responsibility for any harm, loss, injury, and/or damages, caused directly, indirectly, consequential, or otherwise to, including but not limited to, any of the vehicles, businesses, equipment, and/or property of the user, customer, and/or purchaser. This also includes loss of profit and/or revenue, the cost of replacing the product, claims of the purchasers’ customers, and removal, installation, and transportation of the batteries and/or products.

Responsibility to Return Goods

It is the responsibility of the purchaser/customer to return the battery and/or product to Duratec Batteries, any of its authorised distributors and/or authorised resellers for testing. Should you travel outside the area where you purchased the battery and/or product and there are no Duratec branches, or any authorised distributors and/or authorised resellers available or near the purchaser and/or customer, it is the responsibility of the purchaser and/or customer to return the battery and/or product back to one of the Duratec branches, any of it’s authorised distributors and/or authorised resellers.

Additionally, the Duratec branch, authorised distributor and/or authorised reseller will be charged for the battery plus the scrap charge of the battery.

Warranty will Automatically be Null and Voided.

The warranty will automatically be null and void should any of the following occur and/or causes the battery to fail and/or to be destroyed:

Wrong Voltage, Amps and/or Technology

Using the wrong voltage, amps and/or technology for the vehicle and/or application. The battery size, specification, type and technology should always comply with the recommended battery size, specification, type and technology of Duratec Batteries and/or the vehicle manufacturers’ specifications.

Intended Use

Maintenance-free, lead-acid batteries that are used for any other application than what it was intended for, i.e: solar, ups/backup, or in vehicles that require EFB, Stop/Start, or AGM batteries.

Damages Caused

Any damage caused to the battery, casing, and/or terminal caused by negligence directly or indirectly by anyone since the date of purchase

Other Damages Caused

Any damage caused by, but not limited to, Acts of God, war, accident, shipping, courier companies, fire, faulty electrical systems, faulty charging systems, improper handling, the battery being serviced by an unauthorised dealer, distributor, reseller, mechanic and/or auto electrician, willful abuse, collision, theft, external chargers, faulty bridging cables, shorts on the vehicle, etc.

Mechanical Shock

Any damage caused by mechanical shock to the casing, battery, and/or terminal due to wrong installation and/or hammering

Discharging and/or Overchargins

Failure of the battery due to deep discharge, overcharging, or improper topping up.

Purchase Date

The purchase date, engraving, and/or warehouse date has been removed, tampered with, and/or changed intentionally or otherwise in any shape or form.

Solar Batteries

If solar batteries are abused and/or overused (ensure that your depth of discharge is no more than 50% - 12.20v). Solar batteries must be connected and charged through a solar controller. The panels must NEVER be connected directly to the batteries. Failure to do so can lead to overcharging.

Faulty Panels etc.

Faulty solar equipment, including but not limited to, panels, controllers, inverters etc.

Opened Battery and/or Product

If any maintenance-free, UPS, AGM, Gel, or Lithium battery has been opened for whatsoever reason.
